Frequently Asked Questions

What is Included?
PacRim Log Structures specializes in deconstructed log structure kits, that are easily assembled on your property, by someone on our team, or a skilled carpenter.

Each unit will come flat packed, wrapped in a thick tarp paper, and strapped to a pallet. Inside you will find:

– all wood material shown in the unit rendering:

– all doors and windows; floor boards and roof boards

– hardware and lock assemblies

– nails and screws to construct the unit.

We provide technical drawings and assembly instructions for your unit upon purchase.

For more detailed information about the specific components included, please check our ‘Product Information’ page.

How do I Protect my Unit?
Our structures are manufactured from raw Northern Spruce, which is kiln dried to 16% moisture content prior to leaving the factory. This raw material is highly susceptible to moisture, which can cause the boards to warp or crack if not treated properly.

We recommend treating your unit immediately after assembly to ensure it is not negatively affected by the climate, especially on the West Coast. Wood Oil, Stain, or Paint can be used on both the exterior and interior of the unit to provide protection, and aesthetic. We encourage you to speak to a local paint supplier to determine the best product for your specific climate and unit.

PacRim works with local suppliers to provide high quality products that are tailored to your unit. Contact us for a customized quote.

To learn more about protecting your unit, please check our ‘Extras & Upgrades’ page.

How do I Build the Unit?
We recommend construction and finishing by a skilled carpenter, or someone with construction/carpentry experience. While we do provide many resources for you, our kits do require a certain amount of carpentry finesse to efficiently and successfully complete.

Included in your purchase of a structure is technical drawings and assembly instructions specific to your unit. These drawings will show a list of all materials included and how they should be assembled, as well as dimensions and elevations for the unit. We do not recommend relying solely on these documents to construct your unit however – carpentry experience is an asset.

The most important thing to remember is that your base needs to be square and level, otherwise as you build your unit it will be out of alignment exponentially as you get higher, which will result in warping and incorrect settling.

On our ‘Symbols & Assembly Instructions’ page, we do have a few assembly videos to show you the process of constructing one of our units.

We are here to assist you with any questions that you have along the way – please do not hesitate to contact us or your sales rep!
